Â
Summer of '44
Â
This FSO setup is a variation on the battle for France in the Summer of 1944. Â
Â
During the actual campaign, by the time Operation Overlord (the invasion of France) happened, the Luftwaffe units defending western France had mostly been driven to ground by the Allied air forces.
Â
In this setup, each side retains sufficient tactical air strength to attack each other's ground forces' assembly areas, represented here by base structures.
Â
The Allied armies in Normandy are pushing east toward Paris...

NOTES ===================================================
Â
During the real campaign the aerial battle was very uneven: the Luftwaffe was mostly absent. Â This is an attempt to stage a more balanced contest with some aircraft of the period.
