Battle Of Britain - August 1940Â

For the past several weeks the Luftwaffe has been probing the RAF defenses over Allied shipping in the English Channel and over the southeastern coast of England. Now, the battle is moving into a new phase as the German bombers begin to range further inland, targeting RAF bases in England. The German intent is to draw the British into a series of large, decisive clashes and destroy the RAF in the air and on the ground. The RAF hopes to prolong the aerial battle of attrition, and wear down the Luftwaffe to the point that it cannot adequately protect any attempt by the German Army to cross the Channel and invade southern England. Each air force faces numerous challenges. The RAF uses radar and a centralized command structure to concentrate its small number of planes against the German attackers. The Luftwaffe's single-engined fighter, the Bf-109, carries only enough fuel to fight as far inland as London for just a few minutes.

SPECIAL RULES =============================================
 1.) The Luftwaffe C-in-C may optionally designate ONE group of up to twenty (20) Bf-110C-4 as "Erprobungsgruppe 210" (Test Group 210) and they may carry bombs. No other Bf-110s may carry bombs. Erpr. 210 must all fly together as one flight, although they may fly in company with one or more other squadrons.
 2.) Minimums and maximums for each plane type must be observed.
 3.) This is a one-life event.
 4.) The level bombing bombsight calibration method is AUTOMATIC. (MA standard)
 5.) Bomber formations are enabled for the Ju-88 and He-111, but are not required. ("min" and "max" count pilots, not drones)
 6.) Ju-88, He-111, and Ju-87 "Stuka" bombers may not exceed 21,000 feet altitude. Penalties for proven violations of this rule will be swift, brutal, and merciless.
 7.) Each of the seven RAF target bases must be attacked by a force of at least ten (10) bomb-carrying planes no later than T+60. (for He-111 & Ju-88 count pilots, not drones)
 8.) The following planes may NOT carry any air-to-surface ordnance or drop tanks: Hurricane, Spitfire, Bf-109, and most Bf-110s (see rule #1, above)
 9.) Bf-109s and those Bf-110s not carrying bombs (see rule #1, above) may strafe ground targets, but will only score points for destroying guns at designated target bases.
10.) British radar will be active (sector radar, or "bar-dar") since it was a key feature of the battle. It will have a 5 minute refresh rate to simulate the time required for radar reports to filter up to Sector and Group HQs and then back down again to the fighters in the air.
11.) RAF planes may not go "feet dry" to fly over continental Europe
AIR BASES =================================================
For basing RAF squadrons, all of Britain is open. The RAF may base aircraft at any friendly airbase. Aircraft may rearm/refuel at any friendly airbase.
For basing Luftwaffe squadrons, all of the European continent is "friendly". Aircraft may rearm/refuel at any friendly airbase.
Both Axis fighters, the Bf-109 and the Bf-110, may be home-based at any Axis airbase.
The three Axis bombers (Ju-87, Ju-88, He-111) are limited to the following airbases:

 A good landing at a friendly airbase (not a port or vehicle base) earns 5 points per pilot at the end of the frame.

 Accidentally shooting down a fellow countryman incurs a penalty equal to two times the normal aircraft value (see Aircraft Points, above).

The victory point value of the maximum number of German bombers is about equal to the victory point value for all the assigned ground targets.
The "FuelBurnRateMult" of 1.0 matches the scale of the terrain file.
